Concerns over the future of Knowle Manor

Recently I joined Local Councillors Neil Dawson and Louise Bentley at Knowle Manor residential home to meet residents concerned about the possible closure of the facility.

I met with Knowle Manor resident Claris Parry and her daughter who had contacted me to listen to their concerns and to see for myself the quality of the facilities at Knowle Manor now under threat.

I have written to the Director of Adult Services at Leeds City Council raising residents concerns.

We also signed a petition to save the facility which had been masterminded by another anxious resident Tony Moorhouse. Tony has collected over 400 signatures.

I understand that Leeds City Council is in a very difficult position, being forced by the Government to make cuts that are going too far and too fast. These are the largest cuts in the Council’s history, £90 million this year alone! However, Knowle Manor is a really excellent quality facility for elderly people here in Morley, and the residents are very happy living there.

That’s why I’m backing the campaign to keep Knowle Manor open, and I hope that the Council will listen to the concerns of residents.
