Wakefield Unison members in Parliament

On Tuesday, ahead of the government’s announcement of massive cuts, which will hit local people and services hard, I met Wakefield members of Unison who were in Parliament to protest against the plans.

Along with Mary Creagh, MP for Wakefield, I heard from constituents how the proposed cuts will disrupt core services in our schools and NHS, and put at risk funding for care assistants, social workers, police staff and others working for the community.

The government’s cuts are reckless and dangerous for jobs and the economy, and in coming months I will be working closely with Unison members to stand up for people round here.
