Opening Pinderfields Hospital

The doors of the brand new Pinderfields hospital opened today for the very first time. I visited the children’s department, to meet Josh (and his mum), the very first patient. I was overwhelmed by the fantastic facilities and the positive feedback from staff, who have been in all week getting ready to receive patients.

The new layout means that all services for children are brought together, so whether it is physiotherapy, speech therapy, or sensory treatment, families will now come to the same specialist part of the hospital.

Along with local residents, I fought hard to get this brand new hospital for our area. Everyone who has seen it so far knows that the hard work, and the millions of pounds of funding that it took to make this happen, has been worth it. This new hospital will give the best possible care for children in Wakefield.
