Signing the Every Disabled Child Matters Constituency Pledge

Disabled children and young people and their families deserve the right support, so that they can get on with their lives without having to fight the system. Schools, hospitals, children’s centres, youth clubs – all places in our communities – should be working hard to make that a reality.

I was delighted to sign the Every Disabled Child Matters constituency pledge. It spells out my commitment to working with disabled young people in my area to keep improving local services and to keep investing in support across the country too.

The government has invested over £800 million of new funding in services for families with disabled children over the last two years. Parents tell me that has started to make a real difference to their lives, but there is of course more to do.
