Outwood shops doing well after our campaign

Potovens Lane post office with Cllr Charlie Keith

At Potovens Lane post office with Cllr Charlie Keith

It is great to see Outwood shops doing so well. I was at the post office with Wrenthorpe & Outwood West Councillor, Charlie Keith on Friday and everyone was talking about how well things were going after our campaign last year. The Ledger Lane post office had been closed for over a year but thanks to our campaign with local residents, reopened on Potovens Lane last May. According to the staff I spoke to at the post office on Friday things are really busy, especially on Mondays which is pension day. And local pensioners at Springhills were full of praise for their postoffice when I met with them a few weeks back. The Wakefield Express is also reporting growing business confidence in the area which is great news.
I also popped in on new business Ava Coffee on Leeds Road in Outwood. Ava Coffee is named after owner Lisa’s daughter Ava. As well as being a cafe, Lisa puts on special tea and coffee sessions for local mums to come along with their babies. It’s really nice to see new businesses starting up even in these difficult times. It was a good cup of coffee too!
