My meeting with Susan Hanley & the End the Care Crisis Lobby

Susan Hanley & the End the Care Crisis Lobby

Susan Hanley & the End the Care Crisis Lobby

Susan Hanley is a bit of an inspiration. For some people having a disability would slow them down, but Susan, who lives in Morley, is bright, energetic and busy campaigning and lobbying about the issues she cares about. I caught up with Susan as part of the End the Care Crisis Lobby supported by Mencap and other local charities.

Susan told me how with support she can get out and about, to meet her friends and have a good quality of life. It also gives her a voice and influence. Yet with pressure on budgets, some of the most vulnerable people in our society are being hardest hit. Round here we have already seen deep cuts to services and to the financial support disabled people receive. It’s not right that the most vulnerable are paying the highest price. I’ve invited Susan to spend more time with me so that we can ensure there is more protection, not less, for those who need most help.
