Sponsor two great charities I am running the London Marathon for

On 22 April, I will be attempting to run the London Marathon for the first time. It’s going to be tough – and I’m not expecting a fast time.

But the thing that will drive me on – and has kept me going through months of gruelling training – is thinking about the two great charities I am running for, both of which I have worked closely with over the last few years: Action for Stammering Children and Whizz Kidz.

You can read more about my work with the two charities and how I’ve been preparing for the big run in my interview with the Daily Mirror or in tonight’s Evening Standard.

Please consider donating to either or both of these great causes at my Just Giving page. This is what your sponsorship money could help to fund:

For Action for Stammering Children:

  • £100 would provide a one on one therapy session between a child and an expert speech and language therapist
  • £50 would provide one day’s training for a generalist speech & language therapist to enable them to provide stammering therapy to children locally.
  • £25 would help fund ASC’s helpline for anxious parents

For Whizz-Kidz:

  • £100 would fund a child a day at a Wheelchair Skills Training course, to give a disabled young person the skills and confidence to play with their friends and siblings at school and at home
  • £50 would help cover the cost of an adjustable arm-rest to ensure the right fit for a child’s wheelchair.
  • £25 would help pay for an adjustable wheelchair foot-rest to aid a child’s independent mobility

If you wish to sponsor one of the charities by cheque, please make it payable to ‘Action for Stammering Children’ or ‘Whizz-Kidz’ and send it c/o Ed Balls MP, House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA.

Thanks so much for your support.
