Getting stuck in with Wakefield college catering students

What a great group of students at Wakefield College. I was at the college at the start of the college year and it was good to catch up with some of them again to hear how they’ve been getting along.

The catering students I met back in September have been away on placements around the world honing their skills. One of them is now a specialist pastry chef. Others got placements in hotels and restaurants including the Hilton in Malta. They told me what amazing experiences they’d had.

I met up with the newly elected President of the Student Union too who shared her plans for the next year. She’s been elected with a great slogan; “If it matters to you, it matters to me.” Next time I see her I’ll be checking she’s kept to her word.

The food at Gaskell’s was amazing too and it was good to get into the kitchens to see the frontline for myself. I’ll definitely be back.
