Diamond Jubilee Celebrations in Morley

It was standing room only at the Morley Labour rooms this afternoon as local residents packed the hall for our Diamond Jubilee celebrations. After a buffet lunch, we all enjoyed strawberries and ice cream topped with diamond sprinkles. And it turns out, I’m a dab hand with a big tea pot. We then watched the parade and the crowds gathering for the balcony appearance. It’s been a great day.

I’m not old enough to have been around for the Coronation. Back at the time of the Silver Jubilee when I was ten we had a chariot race in Keyworth on the rec and had a street party. Today loads of people had dressed in their red, white and blue and we had a great tombola and raffle to raise money for the local Royal British Legion.

Congratulations on 60 years to Her Majesty the Queen.
