Supporting Armed Forces Day At St Anne’s in Wrenthorpe

Armed Forces Day 2012

Armed Forces Day 2012

Earlier today I joined veterans, families of current servicemen and women, their neighbours and friends to show our local support for Armed Forces Day in at St Anne’s Church Hall in Wrenthorpe. From 10 year old David who’s mum served in the Navy to a 95 year old Veteran who served in Africa and Italy and who brought along his memoirs to share. There were some great stories and David helped me serve tea and sell raffle tickets in aid of the Royal British Legion.

One family joined us who’s dad/husband is away serving in Canada at the moment. The two boys cheered up when they won the chocolates in the raffle. It’s so important to support Armed Forces Day and show our support to those serving in our Armed Forces, as well as honouring the service of those who’ve served their country in the past. It was great to have the local community all coming together. A great morning.
