Improvements needed at Morley train station

Working in partnership with Morley Councillor, Neil Dawson I’m calling on transport bosses to take action to improve Morley train station.

Many local residents have complained to me and to Cllr Dawson about problems with parking, lighting and facilities at Morley train station. There are also ongoing concerns about the poor links between the station and Morley town centre and the long walk uphill from the station to the town makes it hard for people to travel in by train and pop to our great local shops.

We have great rail links into Leeds from Morley, with services running every half an hour. But the station itself isn’t up to much. There isn’t enough parking, the lighting is poor and we still don’t have a decent bus link between Morley Town Centre and the station.

Action is needed to improve Morley train station

Our meeting with the Intregrated Transport Authority, Northern Rail, Network Rail and Metro was positive and it now looks as though some improvements to lighting and parking will be made at Morley Station. Our discussions covered problems with the road surface, insufficient parking, the lack of information on the station itself and poor lighting, which is a particular problem in the winter months. However despite some small improvements which should now be on the way there’s much more to do to get Morley the train station the town deserves.

Anyone who wants to back the campaign for improvements to Morley train station should email me ed@edballs.com or tel: 0113 253 9466.
