I’m extremely concerned about the proposals regarding Morley Fire Station. The Fire Authority is having to make huge cuts over the next two years and they’re understandably looking at lots of different options. But safety is paramount when it comes to our fire service and proposals like this shouldn’t be put forward just because they save money.
Morley’s fire station not only responds to around 200 fires a year but is also close to major motorways which are another big source of call outs. I am very concerned that these proposals will put public safety at risk.
I’m having urgent meetings with Fire Chiefs this week to ensure that saving money is not being put above the public safety of people in Morley. I will update people once meetings have taken place.
In the meantime, anyone who has views on Morley Fire Station shouldn’t hesitate to get in touch.
