Great local schools

We have some great schools in Morley & Outwood and I visit them as often as I can. In the last couple of weeks I’ve been to two of our high schools to meet headteachers and pupils.

Rodillian Academy in Lofthouse is the most improved school in the North of England. Meeting with headteacher, Andy Goulty and his leadership team have done a fantastic job and I heard about how results have been transformed over the last 5 years.

At Bruntcliffe, big improvements are underway and Headteacher Heather Scott told me that on their recent visit back to the school just a few weeks ago, Ofsted are pleased with the progress being made.

I joined sixth formers after my meeting with the head at Bruntcliffe for a question and answer session. They asked me about Labour’s policies and whether I get nervous doing media interviews. They also told me about their plans for the future. With some budding entrepreneurs, linguists and scientists with high aspirations and clearly doing well at Bruntcliffe, I’m sure the school will continue to go from strength to strength.
