Congratulations Nathan Popple: Whizz-Kidz Campaigner of the Year

Whizz-Kidz is an organisation close to my heart. And on Wednesday I was lucky enough to attend Whizz-Kidz Annual Awards ceremony in the House of Commons. The ceremony celebrates the fantastic achievements of young disabled people across the UK.

The Whizz-Kidz Campaigner of the Year Award went to 15 year old Nathan Popple from Leeds, who through his website www.accessibleleeds.com has campaigned hard to document and improve Leeds’ accessibility for disabled people. Nathan is a fantastic role model and is doing some amazing work. It was a real pleasure to meet him and to present him with his award.

I was also delighted, and somewhat humbled, to be presented with the Charlotte Grobien Special Recognition Award. This is an award for championing young disabled people.

As people may know, I am very passionate about Whizz-Kidz and the work does to raise awareness and transform the lives of young disabled children. I’ve run two marathons  for them, as well as Action for Stammering Children and have raised over £100,000 in total.
