Backing Cody Hartley’s Campaign & St John Ambulance

Most of us have come across St John Ambulance at a local fete or sporting event. They were out in force for both my London Marathons and are great champions for first aid. And I’m sure most people would think defibrillators are really difficult to use but as I have learned over at the St John Ambulance regional office this week it’s surprisingly simple.

Local schoolgirl Cody Hartley from Thorpe has done some fantastic work to get a  defibrillator into her primary school, and with the help of St John Ambulance she is on track to get more of these life saving machines for her community. She is planning to continue fundraising and I will be supporting her. You can see Cody and I talking about our visit to St John Ambulance here.

Defibrillators are now located in thousands of public places and Cody and I saw how easy it is to learn to use one. We also looked at the St John Ambulance Facebook game which anyone can use to test their first aid knowledge.

I’m backing St John Ambulance’s campaign to raise awareness of these devices and the benefits they could bring to workplaces, schools and community organisations.  You can add your support to the St John Ambulance campaign on their website or via facebook.
