The breast screening unit is back in Morley!

The breast screening unit is back in Morley! I called in on Friday to see the unit back in place and caught up with Maxine who was instrumental in getting the unit installed at Asda. See our video here:

You might remember my campaign, along with Cllr Neil Dawson, a couple of years  back to get the unit back to Morley after it was moved to Middleton after the Morley Sports Centre was re-built. Thanks to Asda’s amazing Community Champion, Maxine Green, the unit was back in Morley and installed at the Morley Asda in a few short weeks.

And it’s now back for it’s second wave of appointments.

When the unit moved to Middleton there was real local concern that  women without their own transport were having to  travel on 2 buses to access the service and were at risk of missing their appointments.

It’s fantastic to see the unit back in Asda’s car park. Women and men from across the Morley area will now once again be able to access a breast screening service close by in the specialised unit. Having the unit available locally should mean more women (and men) coming forward for screenings which will mean more early detection of any problems.
